Atlanta is teeming with visual art, dance and theater venues that are certain to appeal to visitors of all ages. From the renowned High Museum of Art to the Atlanta Ballet, this historical and entertaining city offers some of the best in cultural refinement.

Museums abound in Atlanta. The Atlanta Contemporary Art Center is a multi-disciplinary art complex that places emphasis on experimental, visual & book arts. An anchor in the growing Marietta Street Arts Corridor, NEXUS features a gallery, studios & artist press. The Atlanta International Museum is the city’s only exclusively international museum, focusing on international cultural understanding through exhibitions and educational programs. The Robert W. Woodruff Arts Center includes four fine arts companies offering Atlanta and the Southeast the finest in visual and performing arts. Included are The Alliance Theatre Company, The Atlanta College of Art, The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the High Museum of Art. The High Museum of Art is known for its fantastic exhibitions of both modern and classical art, with four floors of paintings, sculptures and more. These are just a few of the museums scattered throughout Atlanta.

Theater in Atlanta is as equally revered among locals as the Braves. Okay, it’s not that big, but it’s world-class nonetheless. Atlanta offers a swath of performance art venues and some of the most talented dance and acting troupes in the country. The Academy Theater is Georgia's oldest professional theatre company and a pioneer of education and outreach work in the Southeast. Located in trendy Little Five Points, 7 Stages is Atlanta’s most diverse and adventuresome theater, bringing new plays and international artists to the city. The Atlanta Civic Center Theater has the largest theater in the Southeast, accommodating nearly 5,000 guests. It also boasts the region's largest stage. Recent shows include such elaborate Broadway production as Miss Saigon and ShowBoat, and the internationally acclaimed RiverDance.

Good music is easy to come by in Atlanta. Whether you prefer hip-hop, classical music, jazz, Brazilian or rock ‘n roll, you are sure to find it here, and at its best. The Atlanta Chamber Players and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra perform a wide spectrum of classical and modern masterpieces and both commission works by prominent composers. As far as catching a good old rock ‘n roll show, there’s no better place than at the famous Maquerade. This Romanesque club is divided into three floors, Heaven, Hell and Purgatory. Dance the night away in hell then throw down a shot in purgatory before catching a live show in Heaven. Internationally known acts like Faith No More, Incubus and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, among many others, have all graced the stage here.

The aforementioned are just some of the cultural opportunities in this city. We suggest checking local newspapers like Creative Loafing or the Atlanta Journal-Constitution to find the entertainment most suitable for you.
